Apologies

August 9th, 2010

I'm Sorry, I Swear!

I’ve had a few 16 hour days, some of it associated with mandatory overtime. Bummer. That’s why there isn’t a new post up this Monday; however, I will put up a post for this week. My apologies for not keeping up!

Cheers!

Update: Peace offerings… Two great PJ O’Rourke quotes

Anyway, no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we’re looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn’t test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.

After all, what is your host’s purpose in having a party? Surely not for you to enjoy yourself; if that were their sole purpose, they’d have simply sent champagne and women over to your place by taxi.

    Steven:
I continue to curse the day I wrote on my blog that I would post every Wednesday. I too, feel guilty if I don’t post that day. I think I am about to take a more reasoned approach. Since most of what I post is current, I will just post when I feel like it and try, once a week, to fill in with one in my 20-40 series or something else that is less timely.
    Anyway, I feel your pain.
What the hell is ‘mandatory overtime’? Isn’t all work mandatory? What makes overtime different? You must have a really strange employer (chuckle, chuckle).

Yup! A strange employer… since it’s the Oregon State Penitentiary – that would be the state of Oregon. Since we’re shift workers, we work our 8 hours and hope our relief shows up to relieve us… if not, then the shift supervisor looks for a volunteer for overtime. No volunteers? TAG, you’re it 🙂 That’s mandatory overtime. I guess we can’t leave convicted felons to watch themselves. Although, as more people get laid off, we’ll get pretty close. If the inmate to staff ratio gets too ridiculous, then I guess I’ll look for other work again 🙂

I’m glad somebody else feels guilty if they don’t keep up! Although my guilt doesn’t get the job done, it does indicate some remorse for not meeting a deadline! I like your “more reasoned approach!” I’m considering something along those same lines, but I’m hoping after the next few weeks I’ll be back in the groove and posting an article a week. Now I’ve got to get over to your site and a few others to comment instead of just read!!

Thanks for continuing to drop by,
      Steven
